About

There are still many remains left over the years, it will be an opportunity to discover an exceptional mining heritage.

Argentière-La Bessée is a mecca for white water in France. It is the opportunity to discover or rediscover the sensations of rafting in an exceptional setting. Let yourself be hypnotized by the azure colour of the Durance. Depending on the date of your stay, you may have the opportunity to attend one of the many national and international canoe/kayak competitions.

Ideally located on the banks of the Durance, L'Argentière-La Bessée owes its name to the exploitation of the Fournel Silver Mine, a trace of the city's industrial and commercial past.

At the gateway to Briançon and Guillestrois, L'Argentière boasts a rich industrial, architectural and religious heritage. The cultural service of the municipality makes it a point of honour to enhance the value of these areas.

Among the many jewels of the Ecrins, discover the Réserve des Deslioures (Natura 2000 classified site). This reserve was created to protect the Queen of the Alps, better known as the Blue Thistle, a species emblematic of mountain territories. She appeared around July 15th and honoured us with her presence for 2 to 3 weeks. Follow the path that crosses the flower fields. Be careful not to get out of the way in order to preserve our fragile natural heritage.
