About

Why coming to Laval?

For its historic city centre. Laval takes you on a journey through time, where you will discover different eras as you stroll along. The Middle Ages, thanks to the Old Castle of Laval built from the 11th century onwards and its numerous half-timbered houses. The Renaissance, with the sumptuous Château-Neuf. The Roaring Twenties with the municipal shower baths dating from 1925 in an art deco style.

For its culture. Throughout the year, many events take place here. The most famous is the internationally known Laval virtual, a trade fair dedicated to virtual progress. Laval also welcomes you for its festivals: Les 3 éléphants, Les Reflets du Cinéma, Premier Roman or Le Chainon manquant...

For its dynamism. An ideal destination for cycling enthusiasts and sportsmen. Laval is part of a stage of the Vélo Francette. The cycle route allows you to discover the flavours of a gentle France from Ouistreham to La Rochelle. Come with your family, friends or even on your own and cycle along the Mayenne for a moment of relaxation and happiness connected to nature. You can even hire bikes or scooters. And if you are not interested in pedalling, the area has a number of hiking trails and sports facilities, which will appeal to you.

For its river life. Every summer, Laval creates its own beach with numerous free entertainments for everyone to enjoy. And if you want to approach the Mayenne in a different way, let yourself be tempted by an outing in a kayak, a paddle, by hiring a boat (without a licence) or by taking a cruise.

For its bright winter. During the festive season, Laval becomes magical thanks to its famous Christmas lights. Visitors are invited to explore the city and discover a colourful, dynamic and magical world. To be even more enchanted during the festive season, Laval offers a lantern walk.

Here, you are welcomed all year round.

Finally, coming to Laval is easy, so why not? In addition to being ideally located, between Brittany, the Loire and Normandy, Laval is only 1 hour 15 minutes by TGV from Paris. Train, bus, car, taxi, boat or bike, take your pick.
