ExploreThis is a circular route that will take us through the whole of the Aralar mountain range. We will take the PR that passes through Larraitz and the neighbourhood of San Martin de Amezketa to arrive on an asphalted road that will take us to the Lizeaga manor house. We will continue along this road until we reach a signposted crossroads. At the crossroads, we will take the GR that leads to Igaratza and, once we reach the Arritzaga gorge, we will start the ascent following the course. This path, which climbs steadily but with little difference in height, will take us to the San Miguel sanctuary. Almost the entire route passes through the centre of the gorge along an easy path; but when we reach the heights of the meadows, we will need the GPS to better visualise the path. After leaving Igaratza behind us, we will return to the same path as the one we took on the outward journey; we will turn immediately to the left and, through large meadows, we will reach Larraitz. On this stretch it is also important to know how to find your way, as it is often caught in fog. In case of snow, it will be even more difficult to find the path again. After crossing the Alotza site, we will return to the usual Larrunarri (Txindoki) path (PR-Gi 2005), from which we will go back down to Larraitz.
Through our practice, it is essential to respect the work of the farmers, other operators and owners who welcome us on their land :
So that the herds don't escape, close all the electric fences well and don't damage them!
Also, do not disturb the herds, greet the people you meet with a friendly "hello", and of course bring back all your rubbish! Do not cut routes through the meadows, do not picnic either!
