ExploreThe Aizkorri route begins in the Aldaola car park. We can climb from Zegama via the KvDonejakue or we can go up by car to begin the route from further up. To go up by car, we must head for the top of the Otzaurte mountain pass and, once opposite the Benta de Otzaurte, we take the concrete track going off to the right which takes us to the Natural Park. From this point, we travel 8 kilometres by car to the car park, which is where the route starts. From the car park, we climb to Sancti Spiritu and from here we begin the same climb as that in the Zegama-Aizkorri Marathon. Then we go along the crest and descend to the open fields of Urbia, from where we climb up to the Andraitz peak again (the whole of this route is that of the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon). From Andraitz we descend a little and then go back up to the Sancti Spiritu hermitage by the foot of the Aizkorri crest.
The route is marked in many sections with the yellow dots of the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon and the Trail Station signs. However, for your safety, the use of a GPS is compulsory. The weather can change quickly which could lead to you getting lost in the mist. With snow or in bad weather, some of the markings will not be visible.
