After leaving the Argentiere la Bessée and once you have passed the districts of Plan Léothaud (where you have to follow the GR) and Ubac, you go up through a pine forest to the first bridge which crosses the Fournel stream. Beginning of the eponymous valley, a mecca for ice climbing in winter, this place is also steeped in history. Indeed, as you begin the descent, you overlook the Fournel gorges where silver mining activity was at its peak in the XiXth century. Then you cross to the Blachière where a more open descent among the crops and dwellings brings you back to the starting point.
