ExploreLocated in the courtyard of the Dourdan castle, this house/museum was furnished in a former “salt attic” from the 13th century and built by the Marquis of Verteillac.
The museum is located in a former “salt attic” from the 13th century which was turned into an accommodation - of which only several Gothic Revival style rooms remains - one century later. The museum shelters various collections of high quality: archeological potteries, documents about the history of Dourdan, furniture, “pharmacy jars” from the former Hôtel-Dieu… as well as a very beautiful paintings collection, of which a “Virgin and the Child”, dated from the 16th century, was attributed to Pieter Coeck van Aelst… There are also temporary exhibitions and discovery trail for children.
