This route is a beautiful scenic itinerary passing by the Croix de Rochefort (from which one can reach the Rochefort VKM). It has spectacular views from the Croix du Py (Rochefort), but especially from the terrasse du Fût d'Avenas, which offers a great opportunity for a break as you can enjoy the panoramic view on the Alps and the Beaujolais vineyard from there. At the terrasse du Fût d'Avenas, you can also purchase local products and visit the restaurant bar, which is perfectly located two-thirds of the route.

This itinerary mainly follows forested, shaded trails, making it ideal for summer practice. But it remains a rather challenging route with a positive elevation of  around 1 000 meters. You will also run on a few paved sections that cannot be avoided around the Montgoury area, on a road that is used by very few cars.

The route can be followed from the Col de Crie, or it can be shortened by around 8 kilometers by starting from Avenas.
